A lot of people had been laid off, and a lot are still being laid off. It is a non-stop process for businesses that do not succeed. But one should not dwell on the fact of being out of work. Be productive and explore new stuffs, you don’t have to stay in the line of your career. The worst thing that you could do is to let yourself stagnate and rust professionally. Don’t let it get to you, the key is career flexibility. Here are some steps that you can follow to keep you on track.

1. Embrace Change

One factor that would really help a person to improve is to accept changes. This is one way of learning new things and adapting to the new world of a company. So it won’t let you get stagnated to the same old boring stuffs you do everyday.

2.	Expand and Improve your Skills

Of course in changes, improving and expanding your skills is one of the things you have to do. Some people just let their talents slip away and just sticks to the daily task given to them. It wouldn’t hurt to explore and learn new things a long the way too. Remember, learning is life long.

3.	Look at the Big Picture

Doing your job well used to be sufficient enough to secure your job, but that isn’t the case anymore. If the company sees that you just perform your job and nothing else then someone new comes along that can do your job as well as you do and do much more things than you do, then you’re in trouble. What you do is make yourself indispensable. Let the company learn that you can do much more for them than just your job.

4.	Continue Learning

Always allow yourself to learn and gain more knowledge as you go. Don’t be stuck up on your daily routines. Learning new things can help you in the future. You can learn and make yourself more marketable by doing the following:

•	Go to Training Programs

•	Enroll in Formal Education

•	Cooperate in conferences and conventions

•	Get a mentor that teach you

•	Ask to get rotated in your job

•	Take on new assignments

•	Help to develop people and professional skills

•	Read a lot

•	Ask your supervisors to let you know your weaknesses

5.	Nurture an Active Network

Keep in touch with your friends, colleagues, and professional acquaintances. Not only that you can strengthen your friendship but you can also gain professional bonds. You can have valuable contacts and jobs that may lead to boost your career.

6.	Hone your People Smarts

This means to develop your all-around interpersonal skills in your office. This also helps you widen your professional community. These people around you can help or teach you new skills.

7.	Make Use of the Internet

You can get jobs through the internet easily with just a click of the mouse.

8.	Get Comfy with Technology

Learning to use new technology helps, computer literacy can be added to your credentials. And this can actually be a PLUS factor. And be open to gaining new abilities.

These tips can help you today or even in the future. This skill and knowledge can be put into a good use.

By: Suzanne Harvey

Of all the languages around the world one of the most commonly used in the United States is Spanish, especially if you live somewhere on the western states like Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California.

Living on the west coast speaking Spanish is becoming more and more useful as the Latino community becomes bigger and bigger. Sooner rather than later it will become a language as common as English in schools and in the workplace with the ever growing population.

Learning Spanish on the other hand is no easy task and without the proper teaching can take a very, very long time to speak fluently.

Unfortunately for most us learning another language can come as quite a challenge, but with today’s technology learning to speak Spanish fluently with the right audio and visual software has become easier than many might think. With the use of both visual and audio software learning to speak a second language can be something that can be done in a matter of weeks opposed to months or even years. Of course speaking fluently in another language in order to hold down conversions or common day to day interactions with people that speak the language will take practice, but actually understanding and comprehending the language can be a reality in just a short time.

If you are like me and live in Southern California learning to speak Spanish fluently is almost a must with the Latino population increasing in extremely high numbers every year and the language being used almost as much, if not more than English in parts of California.

By: Ryan Ward

With hundreds of people claiming that e-learning can actually be more difficult than a regular school setting, it is important to know the ins and outs of online learning. It is extremely possible to not only get your degree flexibly, but also succeed while doing it. Here are techniques and tips on how to survive interactive online learning.

1. Create a schedule! Although you do work most of the time, it is important to at least keep a tentative schedule on when you can devote time to your studies. For instance, if you work eight hours a day, perhaps you could spend two hours every other day on your material. The first thing you need to do is keep a planner full of assignments and online chats. Interactive online learning programs often have live chats and question sessions with the professor. It is essential to jot down all of these times down.

2. Find a quiet environment! If you are a mother of three and are trying to do your assignments while feeding your children, chances are you won’t be passing the course. You need to find a quiet area for your computer and an hour when you won’t be bothered. It is important to not only focus, but to also learn the material correctly.

3. Always know who your online professor is and keep in contact. It gets difficult to keep any sort of communication open, especially when everything is done online. However, sending your teacher an e-mail every now and then to update her on your status can make online education a lot easier.

4. If you are having difficulties, it may be smart to contact a fellow online student. Most programs show you the list of students who are also signed up, along with their email address. This way you can contact them if you want to have a study group. Perhaps they are struggling as well, and would be more than happy to help you out.

5. Online learning can be difficult if you don’t know what to expect. Make sure you are good at comprehending both videos and text. Interactive online learning usually consists of videos which display your teacher or online texts that you need to read. If you have trouble reading a lot of material and need to be constantly learning visually, perhaps the classroom is a better bet.

6. Since your computer is just as important as your brain, it is crucial to know that you will have the right components. For instance, if you need to run a lot of videos, you need to have an up-to-date video card. Also, DSL may be needed to help your computer log on quickly. After all, online learning isn’t always a breeze.

7. With online education being full of hurdles, it is necessary to know how to send your assignments. Some teachers ask to post on a certain message board, while others request your documents to be sent through e-mail. It is necessary to know how to send them and when. Deadlines need to be written down!

8. Have fun! It is important to get as much as you can out of the experience. Although it isn’t a normal college setting, you need to know that this will not only further your career, but get you the degree you crave. Interactive online learning provides us with alternatives, and we should be thankful for that. If you are looking for a typical dorm style experience, taking online education will not be the path for you.

By: Natalie Aranda
