Nowadays, you don’t need to hire a professional musician or guitarist to learn how to play the guitar.

Technology has brought BIG changes to the way we do things and learning the guitar is NOT an exception.

If you have a kid who has a great desire to learn the guitar BUT doesn’t have even the slightest idea how to get started, you’d be pleased to know that there are loads of DVDs out there that could help.

Here are some of the benefits that await your child should you go for lessons on how to learn the guitar for kids on DVD.

How To Learn The Guitar For Kids On DVD 1
With a DVD that’s accessible 24/7, your child can take his own pace when learning how to play the guitar.

This is a BIG plus since kids are known for having a very short attention span. Your child can take 20-30 minutes a day for guitar lessons on DVD. 20-30 minutes is just about within a child’s attention span.

How To Learn The Guitar For Kids On DVD 2
So your kid is a HUGE fan of an international guitar artist?

Yeah?

Getting guitar lessons on DVD will give your child hours of entertainment while learning as they watch their favorite guitarist play a mind-blowing and amazing guitar solo. They can watch it over and over again until they play like their idols well, at least, to some extent.

How To Learn The Guitar For Kids On DVD 3
Let’s face it having a professional to teach you how to play the guitar is INVALUABLE but it can be intimidating for kids.

With a DVD set of guitar lessons, there’s no pressure to your kid whatsoever. As mentioned above, he can take his own pace when practicing those fingers. There’s no one to tell him if he’s taking too long on a lesson.

HOWEVER, don’t get me wrong your child still needs supervision and encouragement especially during the early stages of his guitar training. Be there when your child needs your support.

After all, learning how to play the guitar can be an exciting BUT long and tedious journey for kids and adults alike.

By: Thomas Powers

Blended learning combines classroom instruction and online learning. Learning that takes place in a classroom is teacher-directed. The teacher interacts with the students face to face and controls the content and pace of the lesson. Despite common misconceptions, learning that takes place over Internet can also be teacher-directed. In online learning, teachers can give a lesson via a live webcast where students watch the teacher in real time on a computer screen. Teachers can also post lessons and make assignments that students complete on their own. The teacher still controls the content of the course and establishes final deadlines, but online learning allows students the freedom of choosing where, when, and how they learn.

Best of Both Worlds

With Blended learning, students benefit both from the traditional classroom method of instruction as well as a computer aided method. A student in a classroom receives direct instruction, participates in timed activities, and socializes in a group setting. Alternatively, students learning online can work in a comfortable environment of their choice, learn at their own pace, and manage their own time. Blended learning gives students the opportunity to receive the personal attention and discipline of classroom learning and at the same time to build independence through online learning.

Convenient

Blended learning can be very effective for children in grades K-12. Because the online lessons and classroom course content complement one another, students are able to cover the necessary subject matter with limited classroom time. For example, students taking a Blended learning science class can complete the majority of their class work online by accessing course material, watching videocasts, and instant messaging or emailing their instructor with questions. This online instruction would be enhanced by in-class labs, providing the opportunity to do hands-on experiments under teacher supervision. By having to attend only the labs in a traditional classroom setting, students have greater flexibility in their schedules for attending other classes, studying, and socializing with their peers.

Students Practice Valuable Skills

Blended learning exposes students to working online and encourages them to advance their computer skills. With a curriculum, students use computers daily to participate in lessons, take quizzes and exams, and communicate with teachers and other students. By using such tools, students learn not only course material but also valuable real-world computer skills that will be necessary in the knowledge-based economy of their future.

At the same time, schools do not need to make a substantial financial investment to offer this advantage to their pupils. Companies such as IQity can provide the software and technology that makes Blended learning possible at a low per-pupil rate, requiring the school to have only the computers and an Internet connection.

By: Susan Bond

Training is essential to any employee and provides not only a benefit to them but also to the company in increased productivity and employee job satisfaction. The high costs of travel combined with increasing strained budgets have meant that training can sometimes be the first thing to be cut when focusing on the bottom line. Companies are turning to a more cost-effective solution through online education and e-learning.

Training an employee is essential for any business, whether it be a fast food establishment or a multi-million dollar software company. One of the most effective ways to train employees is to let them get education at their own pace through e-learning training programs. Not only does this eliminate costly travel expenses but it also allows the employee to take the training on their own schedule as they are available. If an employee cannot finish the online education is one sitting they can easily come back to where they left off next time. Furthermore, if there is a question or a concept the employee does not understand the e-learning system lets them review and go over materials as often as they desire.

One of the foremost designers of e-learning software is Gary Blum Designs. They have developed online education systems for a number of major companies including Charles Schwab, Cygent and Sybase. If your company does not have an internal training department then hiring an outside contractor such as Gary Blum Designs can be the best solution for getting quality e-learning materials delivered right to your employees.

Most online education includes quiz and performance evaluation software at the end of the course. This information can be stored for use by management to see training weak-spots in the company or judge individual performance. Many times employees can re-take missed quizzes or evaluations and never be asked the same question twice thanks to the technology behind the e-learning application.

By: Nic Haffner

Distance learning online is one more advantage that modern technology has offered us for learning at home. if you are new to this concept then you will be surprised to know that a lot of distance learning courses are available in cyberspace. It is up to you only to find a suitable distance learning college and start getting distance education.

Change In Public Opinion

Few years back, before the advent of Internet, it was not possible to even think of distance learning online as an alternative method of acquiring required skills. In 1990s, when these online classes were first launched, many people did not take them seriously. However, today you will find a dramatic change in the public opinion because of many advantages associated with it.

If you are a person who do not like crowds, online education could be the right solution for you. Besides, you also have the freedom of learning at your own pace without any kind of pressure. This is very good for working people as they can carry out their studies while performing their duties also.

Distance learning online allows you to get education from an institute located anywhere in the world. You do not have to move from your place to get required degree. Most of the online colleges do not impose any kind of residency restrictions. You have the facility of choosing a college based in France, if you are interested in learning French art. So, physical distance is no more a hurdle as far as attaining knowledge is concerned.

By: Rishabh Sogani

In our current tier of ever-advancing technological society, of course our students are also affected but the steady climb of what becomes considered common, everyday technology.

Often, disabled students are in the same class despite their various abilities or inabilities to completely comprehend the material being taught. Therefore, they are not learning at the same level.

This is why using software designed for disabled students is such a good idea, most likely more so than technology in the classroom designed for students who do not have disabilities and who are all primarily on the same educational level. With disabled students and technology, individual students are able to learn at their own pace and the instructor is then able—judging by what he or she knows the individual student is capable of, and can grade the work accordingly.

In addition, the instructor can keep much better track of his or her student’s progress by keeping records of all of the individual students work on a hard drive and back-up disks. This is also a way to teach the students how to organize their files neatly.

Many programs, even those that are not as advanced technologically as those of the other students and make it easy for them to put different files in different folders depending on the subject—and further organize his or her assignments with other folders marked by the exercise. They can even go as far as to learn programs that teach how to save old files that have been improved such as English papers or book reports that have been revised from the original version they wrote after the material was reviewed.

Balance:

As a teacher, it is difficult to instruct a class composed of students who learn at all different levels to make the lesson interesting enough that they do not bore the more advanced students—which often makes them “tune out”—and, by the same token, they do not confuse and frustrate the children who are slower at learning and require more time to reach an understanding of the material being taught. It is virtually impossible for any teacher to do so.

The main point is that technology and disabled students is almost becoming an essential part of teaching mentally handicapped children. And although technology is also helping advance other learning— i.e. learning for students without mental handicaps, without disabilities, is still a very effective method of teaching. But it does take away from the actual teaching itself, and for some teachers that is a sad thing. When the computers do most of the instructing, the teacher, of course, does less.

Be choosy in the kinds of computer software you purchase for your students. Some software for technology and disabled students is quite effective, contains a long warranty and allows the students to get the most possible benefit.

On the other side of the spectrum, certain computer software and other technological learning devices are without warrantee and are of lesser quality. Therefore these kinds of programs can unfortunately be a waste of money, even if they are less expensive. Check out consumer reports on technological software before you purchase any program. You want the very best for your disabled students.

By: Anne Clarke

Typing games are personalized software that teaches typing at the learner’s own pace to decrease frustration and boredom. No more tedious drills as typing games help everyone learn to type at home or at school.

It is important to consider your students’ age and interests when shopping for typing games. You can find typing games that utilize the popular cartoon character of the day for younger children, or you can find more sophisticated games that are perfect for older students. By having something age appropriate, you are more likely to find the children actually playing the games.

Next, see if you can find something the students can play with little teacher direction. This is particularly helpful if you are going to use the typing games as rewards during free time. You may be busy helping other students or grading papers when the students are on the computer. Of course, if you are going to use the games in a traditional typing class, you may not need them to be quite so self-sufficient.

When your students are playing the typing game you have chosen, do spend some time monitoring them to make sure they are using correct typing techniques. Some of the typing games that are aimed at younger kids can be done with one or two fingers, without using the keyboard correctly. If the students are using the games this way, they might as well not be using them at all, because they are learning improper techniques while using the educational software.

Another type of software to look for is a typing education program that combines games with traditional typing drills. With these programs, students are rewarded with typing games after learning a new typing skill. This combines the fun of the game with the educational component of the typing drill. Typing software can help students learn to type on their own. Many programs will adjust to the students’ learning level, challenge to the next skill level and track progress. Adults can even use these programs to improve their typing speeds on their own.

Typing games are a great way to introduce typing in a home school setting as well. The goal of teaching typing is not necessarily to go through a traditional curriculum, but rather to make sure your children are able to type correctly and quickly. If your state requires a grade for typing, many of the typing games on the market that are designed for older children do evaluate their progress as they type their way through the game. This evaluation can easily be translated into a grade if needed.

Are there any cons to using typing games in your classroom or home school setting? If they are used correctly, there really are no negatives to this type of educational software. Typing is a skill that is only learned through repeated practice. There is no amount of study that your students can do to improve their typing speed. It’s easy to acquire typing skills by practicing the exercises in typing game software. Typing games provide a fun, stimulating way to practice. Not only that, but typing is an absolutely necessary skill in today’s job market. No matter what career path your students choose to follow, being able to type well and quickly will be considered an asset.

By: Sheryl Wood
